Twitter has added a feature that allows you to send donations in bitcoins. At the moment it is only available on devices with iOS operating system, in the coming weeks it is promised to be added to Android. This is reported in the official blog of the company.
Transfers will be made using the Lighting Network (allows you to send bitcoins faster and cheaper). To send and receive cryptocurrency, users of social networks need to connect a Lighting wallet or bind a bitcoin address.
To send a donation, click on the icon that appears next to the “Read” button. You will then be able to sеlect the service to send the transfer. This option is only available to adult users. Twitter will not charge a fee for transfers.
The plans to integrate bitcoin into Twitter were announced by the social network’s creator Jack Dorsey in July of this year. In addition to the ability to support authors, Dorsey said that the first cryptocurrency will be integrated into existing products and services, including paid subscriptions and commerce.
