Fast-food restaurant chain responds to Ilon Musk’s call to add “meme” cryptocurrency to payment methods
The fast-food chain McDonald’s said on Twitter that it is ready to add the “meme” cryptocurrency Dogecoin to its payment methods if Tesla starts accepting the non-existent Grimacecoin token.
This is how McDonald’s representatives responded to Tesla and SpaceX CEO Ilon Musk’s call to start accepting Dogecoin as a means of payment. The businessman said he would be willing to eat a Happy Meal live if the chain starts accepting the “meme” cryptocurrency.
After McDonald’s publication, a Grimacecoin token was created on the Binance Smart Chain network, which momentarily rose more than 200,000% to $2. As of 12:20 a.m. Moscow time on January 26, the token is trading at $0.000028.
Grimace was a purple character from a 1970s McDonald’s commercial who acted as an anti-hero and stole children’s milkshakes. The chain later abandoned the use of the character because he proved too scary for children.
